Volunteer with ERCSA
Without our incredible group of volunteers we simply could not do what we do!
Our primary group of volunteers are young adult volunteer camp leaders who we engage to to lead the fun-filled experiences for children and families on our camps. As an organisation we invest in our volunteers through training and capacity building them to best serve the needs of our participants on an ERCSA program.
We also rely on a team of support volunteers to cook, drive buses, and help run the logistics of a camp.
Outside of a camp program we also have volunteers work behind the scenes to help with fundraising, admin, and resource management.
If you have any questions about volunteering with ERCSA, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Volunteer with ERCSA
make an impact in the lives of others
Without our incredible group of volunteers, we simply could not do what we do!
ERCSA is at its core a dedicated community of young adult volunteers who we engage to act as mentors, friends, and role models to our campers on our programs.
As an organisation, we invest in our volunteers through training and capacity building to best serve the needs of our participants on an ERCSA program. We also rely on a team of support volunteers to cook, drive buses, and help run the logistics of a camp. Outside of a camp program we also have volunteers work behind the scenes to help with fundraising, admin, and resource management.
Places as a new volunteer open throughout the year,. but are limited to 8 - 16 new volunteers per camp. To register your interest in volunteering with ERCSA, express your interest on the form below and we will be in touch when places on our next programs are available.

Why we volunteer...
"I love that ERCSA supports kids to believe in themselves and see their full potential, and to change their perspective on life by reinforcing fun and positive experiences. I love the diverse range of people that are ERCSA volunteers. I love that ERCSA creates an environment where volunteers are able to give our unique skills and experiences to the kids on camp and generate amazing and life-changing experiences for them (and ourselves!)"
As a camp leader your role is to be a mentor, support, and friend to the young people who come on our camps.
As a first time Volunteer, you are required to :
-
be 16-25 years old,
-
have or be prepared to obtain a Working with Children Check,
-
attend a Pre-Camp Training Day,
-
and be available for the entirety of a camp program (5 days, 4 nights).
Below you can find more information on the induction process of volunteering with us.
How to volunteer

Step 1: Register your interest
The first step is to register your interest on the form found at the top of this page. We will then contact you when new volunteer places become available
Step 2: Submit a Volunteer Application Form
Once you've registered you need to submit a New Volunteer Application Form. You can do this at any time here.
Step 3: Working with Children Check
All volunteers engaged with ERCSA must provide or obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC). Read more about WWCC's and the process here.
Step 4: Register for a Camp
After you have registered as an ERCSA volunteer, you'll then be able to put your name down for a camp.
Step 5: Pre Camp Training
Before you attend a camp, you will have to attend a New Volunteer Training. New Volunteer Trainings are held in person and happen before each bloc of camps. The training will introduce you to ERCSA, contain information on how we (and you) are responsible for safeguarding children and young people, and provide you with the information you need to have a successful first experience on camp.
Step 5: You're on camp!
After all the necessary paperwork and training you're now on camp! Each camp also contains a Pre Camp session where you are able to get settled into the campsite, and meet the other volunteers who will be on your specific camp.

“I come back, because we leaders get to show the kids that for a whole week, they become someone else’s whole world. My whole world is made infinitely better because of it, but more importantly, the kids are shown how much they are loved.”

Volunteer in a support role
Become a camp cook

Working With Children Check
One of the cornerstones of our camps is the kitchen. Most of our camps are self-catered. This allows us to keep camp costs down, but more importantly, it allows us to recreate a warm, welcoming kitchen that helps replicate the feeling of home the family kitchen brings. On camp we prioritise quality, nutritious, and home cooked meals and we always need volunteers to help make that happen.
Volunteering as a camp cook is quite flexible as we're happy to have you for three hours, one day, a few hours each day, or for a whole week! We always have a team of people in the kitchen, with at least one person as the Kitchen Manager to ensure everything is food safe.
Food Safe Handling certificates are desired, but not required. Email us at ercsa@edmundrice.org to express your interest and find out more!
